Quality Sources of GIS Data

Most of the really great data sets available have been developed by Federal, State or Local governments and are free to use. Some take a good deal of work to make them meaningful, others are self explanatory and easy to access right off the internet. All of them however need help to make them look good.

The Google Earth application is a great example of what Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can do and it's fun to use.
